City Park Movement and Arts(CPMA) has hatched a unique creative community providing a warm, welcoming environment for all ages and levels to explore their self-expression through the love of dance and musical theater. CPMA focuses on both improving technique and promoting self-confidence, fun, kindness, community, and healthy living habits. CPMA students love coming to class, working hard to improve, and take part in all the performance opportunities that are offered. It is obvious that CPMA students thrive through their obvious exuberance and confidence on stage! They thrive because of the prestigious summer intensives, performing arts schools, and conservatories that many of our students are offered scholarships to attend.
Weekly Programming is Still Available Now through Summer
Dance - Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Contemporary, Modern,
Acro Dance, Lyrical, Improv, Hip Hop, Jazz Funk, and More!
Celebrate the art and discipline of dance! At CPMA, dancers learn to respect the history and discipline of dance while celebrating and exploring the artistic elements of being a dancer!
Their dance program is classically focused, and dancers are classically trained. Ballet is the center of the CPMA program and is recognized as the foundation of all classical dance. Choreography, music, and costumes are always age-appropriate.
CPMA is unique in that they do not participate in competitions. Instead, they teach dancers to only be in competition with themselves, always challenging themselves to work hard and become the best they can be. Community over competition. Progression over perfection always.
All ages and ability levels are encouraged to explore and enjoy a dance class. Whether you are a curious 5-year-old, a tween looking to try something new, or an experienced dance student hoping to attend a trainee program or become a professional, they have a spot for you!
CPMA's dance department produces three dance programs a year: the original New Orleans Nutcracker in the Fall, a Spring student showcase, and a Summer dance intensive production.
